As we began preparing for the Advent and Christmas season at Brookdale, we knew our plans would have to remain fluid and loosely held.  Flexibility has been the name of the planning game all year!  Many of the traditions we have loved, and to be honest, taken for granted, have had to be adapted or simply scrapped all together. Hence our tagline this year:

Christmas 2020:  New Challenges-New Experiences-New Traditions.

For the time being, we will limit in-house services.  Two factors affect this decision going forward: we have several of our staff and volunteers who have had to pull back due to exposure or who have tested COVID-19-Positive.  In an all-hands-on deck family like Brookdale, we are all affected when anyone on the team has to step back.  The second factor relates to the current hospitalization rates.  Many of our family are front line workers. They have been working hard since early spring.   We stand in prayerful solidarity with them, and the sacrifices they make to care for the vulnerable, sick and dying.  No one is happy about the limitations we live with, but all of us can express our appreciation and gratitude for the many gifts given.

Please join us for our live service on Sunday mornings at 9:30 or watch the recordings anytime. We will continue to prepare services that move us into the Advent season and to Christmas, the great celebration of God With Us!

Nov. 29 —  Advent One: The Dawn of Hope
Dec.   6 — Advent Two: The Source of Joy. Communion Sunday
Dec. 13 — Advent Three: The Power of the Love
Dec. 20 —  Advent Four: The Presence of Peace
Dec. 24 —  Christmas Eve Service: More to Come!***

Dec. 27 —  Prayer & Worship Service

***There will be more to come regarding our Christmas Eve Service!  Weather permitting, we will have an outdoor-fireside-family friendly-experience.

As always, your prayers mean so much to me.  Your faithful presence and participation, seen and unseen, have brought encouragement to me daily.  Let me know how I can return the favor and pray for you!  I expect we are moving into a very significant spiritual season, so with the prophet Isaiah we say:

A voice cries out:

In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain.
Then the glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
and all people shall see it together,

for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Isaiah 40
